Guide
Choosing an Online Casino by Canadian Province
Choosing an online casino in Canada starts with your province, because it decides which sites are on your shortlist. Ontario and Alberta register private operators alongside a government site: iGaming Ontario’s directory listed 49 operators and 84 websites, accurate as of September 1, 2026, and the Alberta iGaming Corporation’s list had 51 registered sites when we read it on October 19, 2026. Quebec’s online casino is Loto-Québec’s, and British Columbia says PlayNow.com is the only legal online gambling site in the province. The minimum age is 19 in Ontario and BC and 18 in Alberta and Quebec. Once you know your options, compare them on the same four points: a balance in Canadian dollars, Interac for withdrawals as well as deposits, the minimum deposit, and the withdrawal time the casino states.
What this section compares, and why
Most “best casino” lists rank sites without asking where the reader lives. In Canada that skips the question that matters most, because each province sets its own rules and its own list of sites. This section goes province first, then compares the sites that are left on the same criteria, so two casinos are never compared on different terms.
We use the operators’ own pages and the provinces’ official lists, and we date every figure. A stated withdrawal time is what the casino says, not a time we measured; we did not deposit or withdraw.

What does each province allow?
- Ontario. Private operators registered by the AGCO with an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario, plus OLG.ca. You must be 19 or older and physically in Ontario to play.
- Alberta. Since July 13, 2026, private operators registered with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis and contracted with the Alberta iGaming Corporation, plus the government-run Play Alberta. You must be 18 or older and physically in Alberta.
- Quebec. Loto-Québec states that its site is the only 100% legal and local casino and sports betting site in Québec. Its casino, live casino, poker and bingo are products of one operator, not separate choices.
- British Columbia. The Government of BC says PlayNow.com, run by BCLC, is the only legal online gambling site in BC, and that you must be 19 or older.
What should you compare once you know your options?
Four points separate sites that otherwise look alike:
- Canadian dollars. With a CAD balance, no currency conversion is applied to deposits and withdrawals.
- Interac both ways. Interac for deposits does not prove Interac for withdrawals. bet365 (Ontario), for example, returns Interac deposits by Interac, while OLG.ca pays every withdrawal by electronic funds transfer to a verified bank account.
- Minimum deposit. PlayNow.com’s is C$5; Loto-Québec’s is C$20 for cards and Interac e-Transfer.
- Stated withdrawal time. bet365 (Ontario) states a process time of 1 to 4 hours for Interac; OLG.ca aims to process within one business day, after which banks generally take one to five business days.
The guides in this section
- How to choose an online casino in Canada. The province-first method and a table of 21 casinos compared on CAD accounts, Interac, minimum deposit, stated withdrawal time and support.
- Ontario online casino comparison. Fourteen Ontario sites compared on directory listing, live dealer lobby, Interac withdrawals and support hours, with bet365, PlayOJO and LeoVegas first for stated withdrawal speed.
- Alberta online casinos compared. What changed in July 2026, what is the same on every registered Alberta site, and which differences are worth checking on each site’s Alberta version.
- Quebec online casino options. Why a “top three sites” answer does not fit Quebec, and how Loto-Québec’s casino products differ for a beginner.
- British Columbia online casino choices. PlayNow’s CAD account, deposit methods and fees, the electronic funds transfer withdrawal, and where surprise costs come from.
How we checked
We read iGaming Ontario’s directory on October 19, 2026 and again from an Ontario connection on October 20, the Alberta iGaming Corporation’s list and AGLC’s register on October 19, and the provincial sites’ and operators’ payment, help and contact pages on October 19 and 20. Ontario operators’ pages were read from an Ontario connection. Every figure on the pages in this section comes from the operator’s or province’s own page, with the date it was read.
What we could not confirm
- Withdrawal times as players experience them: we report what each casino states, not timings we measured.
- Changes to the provincial lists after the dates above: both lists change, so check them on the day you sign up.
Start with your province’s list
Before you compare bonuses or game counts, open your province’s official source: iGaming Ontario’s directory in Ontario, the Alberta iGaming Corporation’s list of registered sites in Alberta, lotoquebec.com in Quebec and PlayNow.com in BC. Then take the sites left on your list through the four points above. If this is your first account anywhere, our guide to trying an online casino for the first time walks through account setup step by step.
