Casino Choice Canada
Methodology
A comparison is only fair if every site is measured the same way. This page explains the order of our checks, the criteria, the sources and what our labels mean.
Step 1: the province
We start with what each province allows, from its own official source: iGaming Ontario’s directory of regulated sites, the Alberta iGaming Corporation’s list of registered sites and AGLC’s register, Loto-Québec in Quebec and the Government of BC in British Columbia. A site that is not authorized for a province is not compared as an option for that province. Operators in iGaming Ontario’s directory are named with the province, for example “BetMGM (Ontario)”, because their Ontario site and terms apply only there.
Step 2: the same criteria for every site
Our comparison tables use the same columns for every casino in them:
- Canadian-dollar account: whether the terms or payment pages list CAD.
- Interac, both ways: whether Interac is stated for deposits and, separately, for withdrawals.
- Minimum deposit: as stated by the casino.
- Withdrawal time: the time the casino states, with the method it applies to.
- Support: the channels listed and, where given, the hours.
- Live dealer lobby: in Ontario, what the public lobby shows.
When a page suggests which sites to compare first, it says why, using a figure from the table, such as the shortest stated withdrawal time.
Where the figures come from
- Provincial and regulatory sources, for what is authorized and what operators must provide.
- The operator’s own pages: terms and conditions, payment and banking pages, help centres and contact pages. We quote the section where the terms number them.
- Rules documents and provider pages, for games.
- News, only where nothing primary exists, and labelled.
We do not use review sites or forums as a source of fact.
How we read the pages
Ontario operators were read from an Ontario connection; other casinos from a Canadian connection in Quebec. We read logged out. We do not open accounts, deposit, withdraw or contact support to time a response, so every figure is what the casino states. A stated time and an observed time are different things, and we only report the first.
Quebec and British Columbia
In these two provinces the comparison works differently. Quebec’s online casino is Loto-Québec’s and British Columbia’s is PlayNow.com, so there is no field of private sites to rank. Our guides for these provinces compare what the provincial site offers, product by product, and set out deposits, withdrawals and support from its own help pages.
What “Not confirmed” means
Not confirmed in a table means the figure was not available from a public page on the date in that row, for example because the cashier opens only after login. It is not a criticism of the casino. Partial rows are marked as such in the table’s status.
What a comparison cannot tell you
Our tables record what each casino publishes. They do not measure how quickly support actually answers, how long a payout really takes, or how a casino handles a dispute. Where a published figure is the best evidence available, we use it and say whose figure it is. Where we found a difference that the casino’s own pages do not mention, for example two pages of the same casino giving different times, the guide points it out.
Featured casinos are not a comparison
The featured casino lists, the header button and the bar at the bottom of the screen are advertising for casinos that pay us commission. Their content and order come from commercial arrangements and from the country of the reader’s connection, not from the criteria above, and a featured casino is compared on the same columns as any other. A welcome offer in a list is shown as our affiliate partner listed it, with the date, and is not compared.
Dates
Each row shows the date it was last checked. Casinos change methods, limits and support hours, so the date tells you how current a row is.
Corrections
Send the page address, the figure you believe is wrong and a link to the casino’s own page that shows the right one, through our contact page. We check it against that page, correct the table if needed and update the row’s date. Our editorial policy covers the rest of how we write.
